If something doesn't change, a surge of COVID-19 cases is inevitable and could affect more than just hospitals, health officials in the tri-county area said on Tuesday.
A significant surge in the coming weeks will also impact first responders, paramedics and ambulance response.
Dr. Ritu Sahni is the Director of Emergency Medical Services in Washington County. He says when a surge happens, it happens fast and it doesn’t just affect hospitals. “The hospital systems are at the brink right now and a significant surge in the coming weeks could quickly overwhelm them,” Dr. Sahni said. “We have to have all of this planning in place and we are starting to do that now."
