PHOTOS: Firefighters from multiple agencies rushed to reports of a spreading wildfire northeast of Rogue River on Tuesday evening. According to the Oregon Department of Forestry, the fire is now largely under control. Rogue River Fire District said that it first responded to a grass fire at 3700 Wards Creek Road just before 5:30 p.m. Firefighters found the fire behind a house, spreading quickly uphill unto heavy brush and timber. Crews deployed hoses on both flanks of the fire, but RRFD said that they struggled to get ahead of the fire due to the rapid spread and steep terrain. As the wildfire began to produce several spot fires, RRFD called in help from surrounding agencies. ODF said that the fire was initially estimated at 10 acres, with at least four one-acre spot fires. No evacuations were ordered, and no homes were considered threatened. Fire crews worked to line the fire completely and started mopping up the fire area.
