VIDEO: A Springfield family is looking for a place to live after a fire roared through their home early Wednesday morning. The fire was reported around 2 a.m. in the 400 block of 63rd St. next to Thurston High School. Eugene-Springfield Fire Battalion Chief Scott Bishop said most of the damage is along the inside and outside of the back of the house. Fortunately, two people living inside along with a couple pets were able to make it out unharmed. Eugene-Springfield Fire responded with four engines, one truck and medics when they learned of the fire. When they arrived on scene, they found the back of the home in flames. There’s no word yet on the cost of the damages, but officials said it’s substantial. “The fire is extensive. The home will not be habitable at this point. There’s extensive damage to the back of the house and the back interior of the house,” Bishop said.
