Early Sunday afternoon, Rural Metro Fire says that it responded to a call in which a hiker survived a scary fall off a trial while hiking at Rainie Falls. According to Rural Metro just around 1:30 Sunday afternoon, a hiker that was traveling on a trail towards the lower section of the Rogue River, fell off the trail and sustained serious injuries. RMF says that thankfully, another hiker was passing by and was able to go get help. First responders say that the second hiker had to drive three miles to the closest house near Rand to use a landline to call for that help. Multiple rescue crews from Rural Metro Fire, AMR-Josephine County and Josephine County Search & Rescue mobilized for the extraction. Rural Metro says that when firefighters and medics reached the scene, they initiated immediate medical care. Soon after that, first responders then had to carry the patient up to the trail.
