Police arrested an arson suspect accused of starting the fire that destroyed the Portland Garment Factory in mid-April. Andrea Renee Cadle, 48, was arrested Wednesday and booked into the Multnomah County Jail on second-degree arson and reckless burning charges. Investigators served a search warrant and found evidence connecting Cadle to the fire, Portland Fire & Rescue said. Fire crews were called out about 3:30 a.m. on April 19 on reports of a fire at the Portland Garment Factory building on Southeast 79th Avenue near Stark Street. Fire officials upgraded the fire response to a third alarm given the fire’s size and the potential for spreading or causing a building collapse.
