Eugene man arrested and charged with arson

A Eugene man was arrested Saturday afternoon in connection with a suspected arson at the Fred Meyers on W. 11th Ave. Eugene police said 32-year-old Bobby Watson had been inside the store Thursday evening and had an argument with customer service staff. Watson is reported to have gone outside and kicked an electrical wire conduit box and burned the bike cage lock, and then set the a large, metal commercial dumpster on fire Thursday evening. Watson reportedly came back to the store on June 12, at about 1:45 p.m. Security recognized him and called police, according to officials. He was arrested on June 12 at 2:14 p.m. He was lodged at Lane County Jail on charges of arson in the second degree and criminal mischief in the second degree, and a warrant.
