After a tsunami advisory on the Oregon coast last weekend, officials are revealing more about how residents can stay alert and be prepared.
They said this past advisory was a good practice for potential tsunami dangers in the future.
The advisory began just before 5 a.m. on Saturday.
"As soon as that came in, I immediately reached out to our partners with fire, ambulance and our city manager," said City of Florence spokesperson Megan Messmer. "Throughout the morning, we evaluated the situation. We made partner calls and communicated every hour or so with Lane County."
Western Lane Fire & EMS Chief Michael Schick said they notified residents when the advisory took effect and they were ready to sound off any alarms for bigger danger.
"We had reverse 911 ready to go; we were ready to pull the trigger on our tsunami sirens," said Schick.
