Firefighters painstakingly used hydraulic tools known as the "jaws of life" to extract an injured driver from their wrecked vehicle near the community of Murphy on Monday morning.
Rural Metro Fire said that the driver had crashed into a tree in the 4500-block of Southside Road, with emergency services responding shortly before 7:30 a.m.
"The impact into the driver's door encased the driver limiting access, and required rescue crews to remove parts of the vehicle (including the roof)," Rural Metro said. It took about 30 minutes for firefighters to extract the driver. After being freed from the vehicle, Rural Metro said that the driver was taken with undisclosed injuries to Asante Three Rivers Medical Center by AMR.
The crash is under investigation by the Josephine County Sheriff's Office.
