PHOTOS: Portland Fire helped an injured hawk that was on a downtown Portland sidewalk on Tuesday. Fire crews said the hawk’s injuries were likely from “battling some crows who were defending their eggs.” Portland Fire & Rescue Squad 1 took the hawk to the Audubon Society of Portland for treatment. Portland Audubon is home to Oregon’s oldest wildlife rehabilitation facility and helps to treat thousands of injured animals each year. In the case of an injured wild animal, humans can often do more harm than good. Your best option is still to call rehabilitation experts at places like Portland Audubon's Wildlife Care Center, as veterinarians and animal control will ultimately turn to those resources.
