Two brush fires were put out on May 21 and May 24, the Douglas Forest Protective Association reported.
According to the DFPA, the first fire occurred near Canyonville on Saturday, May 21 at about 3 a.m. The DFPA reports that the fire was about 1 acre large and was suppressed by fire crews that morning. The cause of this fire is still being investigated.
The other fire happened at Mt. Reuben Road in Glendale on May 24, the DFPA said. They said fire crews responded at about 1 p.m. and found a 4-acre grass fire that threatened nearby buildings. The fire was reportedly suppressed by 8 p.m. after collaboration between several nearby fire agencies. The DFPA says the cause of this fire was found to be the improper disposal of wood stove ashes.
