The Cedar Creek Fire continues to burn about 15 miles east of Oakridge. Fire officials say the fire has burned 113,637 acres and is 14% contained. The fire started on August 1.
Damp weather conditions existed across all areas of the fire, however, limited precipitation fell. The forecast is calling for rain varying from .25” to .5” of rain. Isolated thunderstorms are also in the forecast.
As the weekend gets closer, a warming and drying trend will begin.
Fire officials say they are able to check on various recreational and special sites within the burn area. Huckleberry Lookout and Taylor Burn Guard Station remain in place and are still wrapped in fire-resistant material. The 8:30 a.m. update on Wednesday, September 21, stated that 2,356 total personnel are working this fire.
