Police and fire departments and emergency medical services in Schuylkill County and around the nation came out on Tuesday as part of the 35th National Night Out to spotlight the community services they provide. The event was held in more than 16,000 communities in the 50 states, U.S. territories and military bases worldwide this year, and is normally held on the first Tuesday in August. The night out was held in Frackville at Elks Lodge 1533, and in Mahanoy City at the municipal building. The Frackville event was planned to begin at 5 p.m., but it was delayed by a thunderstorm, and after the storm passed, it started soon after.
