A third fire on Sherman Avenue in the past three weeks burned down a vacant house early Sunday morning.
The two June fires — at 929 and 926 Sherman — were ruled arson, however, Sunday’s fire at 924 Sherman is still under investigation, said Bob Fiscus, Sharon fire chief.
Firefighters knew the house was structurally unsafe before they arrived 12:45 a.m. Sunday because several days earlier they were putting out a fire at the house next door at 926 Sherman, Fiscus said.
The staircase and part of the roof of 924 had collapsed before the fire, which meant that the only thing firefighters could do was to douse the flames from the outside, Fiscus said.
