An inferno was knocked down quickly by Allentown firefighters Tuesday evening before it could spread to nearby homes. According to the fire department, the fire broke out around 6:30 p.m. in a detached garage behind a home located in the 1100 block of Court Street. When emergency responders arrived flames could be scene blasting out of the garage located on Edison Street (the alley behind the home) with a wall of smoke obscuring their vision. The smoke was so intense it could be seen all through downtown Allentown. However, firefighters persevered and got the fire under control. All that was left was the burnt out shell of the garage and an obliterated vehicle that was parked inside.
