A fire killed 1,000 turkeys Tuesday morning near Denver in Lancaster
The fire started around 3 a.m. at a turkey house at the intersection of Hickory Road and Pine View Drive in West Cocalico Township.
The fire destroyed the turkey house, killing all 1,000 turkeys inside.
The farmer said he was actually expecting more turkeys to be delivered today.
Firefighters said there wasn't much they could do. The structure was destroyed.
The fire chief said it's believed that the fire was accidental, though they're not yet sure exactly how it started.
