An assistant fire chief in Adams County died Wednesday at York Hospital after an accident while responding to a call earlier this month.
Walter Wagaman Jr. , 46, died from his injuries around 2 a.m. Aug. 14, according to a news release from the York County Coroner’s Office.
The Buchanan Valley Fire Department assistant chief was heading to a crash on the Carlisle Pike Aug. 2 when he fell from a department truck, the release states.
An autopsy will be scheduled for later this week, according to the coroner’s office. Wagaman was a 32-year veteran of the department, Buchanan Valley fire officials stated in a news release.
“Along with Chief Wagaman’s wishes, the family chose to continue his legacy of helping those when they needed him the most. On August 14, 2019 at 02:03, Chief Wagaman’s organs were donated to those in need,” the release states.
