More than a decade after plans fizzled for construction of a new complex, the Marion Center Volunteer Fire Department is planning to move forward with another new facility. The building, which officials said will be 9,000 square feet and hold approximately 500 people, will be located on about 5 acres of land along Route 119 near Marion Center. The property is owned by the fire company and was purchased in the early 2000s, according to Gavin Misko, building committee chairman and president/assistant chief of the fire company. “We plan to start construction (at the new location) following the city water project that will be coming through Home this summer, and be done by the fall of 2020,” Misko said Monday. “We are approaching the project with two different options. Option one is moving the entire fire station (six bays) to that location. Option two is only housing one truck at that location with a new social hall.”
