One woman was flown to York Hospital late Saturday morning after a crash with entrapment in the 3600 block of Baltimore Pike, Mt. Joy Township. Chief Scott Small of Alpha Fire Company of Littlestown said the woman was the lone occupant in an SUV that crashed with a tractor-trailer. Her condition is unknown at this time. The SUV was upside-down and in a drainage ditch against the front of the tractor-trailer when emergency crews got there. Small said his crews did a great job in what was a difficult extrication of the woman in the SUV. Crews had to stabilize both vehicles while they worked to cut the woman out of the SUV. This included the use of several heavy duty tagline cables that were winched off of fire apparatus, according to the chief. Crews also had to use several rescue struts, which braced against the tractor-trailer and car. In addition to being up against the SUV, the tractor-trailer also struck and was entangled in a utility pole, bringing down cables from Centurylink.
