VIDEO: This week marks one-year since two York City firefighters were killed battling a large building fire. Today, we are remembering the lives of Ivan Flanscha and Zach Anthony and their contributions to their community. “Everything that night was in slow motion,” said York City Fire Chief Chad Deardorff. March 22, 2018, two York City firefighters, 50-year-old Ivan Flanscha and 29-year-old Zach Anthony, were killed when the Weaver Organ and Piano building collapsed. “From finding out about the passing of Ivan. We had hope for Zach and then finding out that he passed. Everything was in slow motion and very, very heart wrenching,” said Chief Deardorff. Heart wrenching for the close knit department and the entire community. It’s been a year since Ivan and Zach died but for Chief Deardorff, the pain still runs deep. “It was very, very difficult. It continues to be difficult. It will never not be,” he said.
