The city of Harrisburg kicked off Fire Prevention Week by honoring those who risk their lives. Monday was the annual Fire Awards Ceremony. Firefighters were honored for their life saving efforts on the Susquehanna River and out at various fires. Seven new fire officers who were recently promoted were also sworn in. "This will take us to a full complement of officers, something we have not had in the bureau of fire since 2009," said Harrisburg Bureau of Fire Chief Brian Enterline. "This is a huge opportunity for us to finally say we've closed that gap, and now we have the necessary resources in the officer corps to continue to move the fire bureau forward." The city also honored everyday people who have gone above and beyond.
