A state police fire marshal is working to determine the cause of a fire in Berks County.
The fire broke out Tuesday night inside a garage in the 800 block of Siegfriedale Road in Maxatawny Township.
Initial reports were that the plume of smoke could be seen from Kutztown, about five miles away.
The fire chief said one person, who may have been trying to put out the fire himself, was taken to the hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation.
Several fire companies brought in tanks of water to help fight the blaze, but the garage is a total loss, officials said.
