Firefighters quickly got the upper-hand on a wind-driven brush fire in eastern Berks County. The fire was reported Thursday afternoon in the 100 block of Mine Road in Pike Township. Officials on the scene struck a second alarm for additional brush units. In addition to the gusty winds, the firefighters' efforts were hampered by live power lines that fell across the middle of the fire. The crews had to fight the flames from two sides, one on Mine Road and the other on Hay Road. There were no reports of injuries.
