Another partial collapse of a problematic downtown Pottsville building closed a part of West Market St. on Wednesday afternoon. A call for an emergency response went out around 2 p.m. for a partial structure collapse at 313 West Market St. downtown. With the 300 block of West Market St. closed to traffic in the middle of the day, side streets around Pottsville were a bit chaotic as vehicles tried cramming onto Arch another nearby streets that remained open. Damage from today’s partial collapse appears limited and it didn’t look like any debris fell outside a fenced-in area near the failing building. Back in mid-August, this was the same scene as another partial collapse at 313 West Market St. On Wednesday, based on the image above, it appears part of the roof and a third-story window frame gave way, casing the middle of the front brick wait there to collapse.
