When a Hunterdon County firefighter returned home on Saturday after being hospitalized for 75 days, he did not expect anything significant to happen. Nonetheless, firefighters from approximately 22 departments from across New Jersey and Pennsylvania were expecting him. The homecoming of Don Vanfossen, president of the Pattenburg Volunteer Fire Company, was honored on Saturday with a parade of fire trucks and EMS vehicles of first responding units from Hunterdon and Warren counties, as well as from Pennsylvania. With sirens blaring and lights flashing, the vehicles traveled from Frontage Road in Hampton over to his home at Bellwood Avenue in Union Township.
