Firefighters in York County were kept busy Wednesday night when departments responded to structure fires in Conewago and Dover townships. Emergency responders were called to the Conewago blaze at 10:43 p.m. Wednesday in the 300 block of Fisher Drive. The fire displaced three families. Crews finished up at the Conewago Township fire around 1:37 a.m., according to Chief Frosty Wertz. "We needed a lot of manpower because of all the time-consuming pulling down the ceilings," Wertz said. "It was an awesome job by all of the fire companies that assisted us on this call." The blaze started in the middle home in a group of townhouses, which caused vertical spreading of the fire to the homes on either side. Firefighters spent time during the incident knocking down walls and ceilings to suppress the fire, Wertz said.
