Members of the Fayette County Firefighters Association gathered outside a Uniontown courthouse to honor firefighters who have died in the line of duty.
The ceremony was in lieu of the association's annual convention, which was canceled due to COVID-19 concerns. "They will always be remembered, never forgotten. This is the 98th year that this service has taken place and it will always continue with the help and support of those who come after us," said Fayette County Firefighters Association Chaplain Edward Zadylak.
They read the names of nine firefighters who have died in the history of the association. After each name was read, a red carnation was placed onto the memorial cross.
The association has not had to add a name to the memorial cross in 17 years.
