Elijah Hale is being hailed as a hero by the Irishtown Fire Company. In a post on the company’s Facebook page, they said they are “proud of his quick thinking, and willingness to take action without the benefit of PPE or other fire personnel on scene. His quick action undoubtedly saved a life.” Hale, a volunteer with the Irishtown Fire Company and Alpha Fire Company of Littlestown, came upon a fire Monday night at a two-story home in the 600 block of Bender Road in Mount Pleasant Township. A young girl was trapped in the second floor of the building. She broke a window and climbed onto the top of the front porch, according to Southeastern Adams County Volunteer Emergency Services Chief Thomas Lawrence. Hale found a ladder in a barn on the property and used it to bring the girl to the ground.
