An adult and six children are without a home at the moment due to a fire in Derry Borough. According to dispatch, several fire departments responded to the fire and the call came in just after 3:30 a.m. on Wednesday morning. That’s when crews were dispatched to the fire in the 300 block of North Chestnut Street. One firefighter was transported to the hospital with a sprained ankle and they are expected to be released soon. As of 7:00 this morning – the fire is out but crews are still on the scene, surveying the damage and investigating the scene. The age of the children that were in the home range from 6 to 19-years-old It appears the fire began at the back of the home and spread. Two cars in the driveway were heavily damaged by the flames and the neighboring home did sustain some siding damage as a result of the fire.
