Beavertown Firefighter Dies Battling Chicken House Fire

Sad news from the fire service over the weekend… A volunteer firefighter from Snyder County died while participating in a firefight Saturday. The Beavertown volunteer, 57-year-old Craig Ginter, died early Sunday of an apparent heart attack. He was at a fire scene in West Beaver Township, Snyder County. Central Susquehanna Regional 911 he was taken to Geisinger Lewistown and died there. Sunday evening the fire company said Ginter was stricken while assisting at a tanker fill site, in conjunction with the large fire incident in West Beaver Township. CSR 911 says the chicken house fire was reported around 10:30 p.m. Saturday along Parthemer Road. Crews didn’t clear the scene until after 4 a.m. Sunday morning and firefighters say 1,400 chickens were lost in the blaze. A cause is unknown at this time.
