A passerby and the work of first responders saved the life of an ice fisherman clinging to the edge of the ice at Marsh Creek Lake Thursday. The lake routinely freezes over during winter cold snap and this February was particularly cold however temperatures on Wednesday and Thursday had the ice softening when the man headed on the ice near Chalfant road after 1 p.m. Thursday. First responders were alerted at 1:58 p.m. after a passerby noticed the man flailing about 30 feet off the shoreline. “The victim was in the water for 15 minutes prior to us getting the call he fell through the ice, out about 30 feet from shore,” said Glen Moore Fire Chief Paul DeCarlo. “He had been ice fishing but was by himself, it looks like just a passerby called.” Photos show his path as he went through the ice and was stuck in a hole about ten feet wide with his sled sitting nearby.
