Frozen Hydrants Hamper Firefight in Girard

Multiple fire companies responded to battle a house fire in Girard Saturday evening. The two alarm fire broke out just after 6:00 p.m. at 316 Templeton Avenue According to the 911 center, it took extra tanker trucks from volunteer fire companies to help battle the fire, because of issues with three frozen fire hydrants. Firefighters from Girard, Lake City, Fairview, Platea, Franklin Township, Springfield, Albion and Cranesville all responded to fight the fire. According to reports from the scene, a woman was home when the fire broke out, but escaped to safety. We have no word yet on what sparked the fire.
