There was a large emergency response and some residents were evacuated when a fire broke out at an apartment building in Tarentum Thursday morning. The three-alarm fire at Golden Towers, which now appears to be under control, started just before 4 a.m. along Allegheny Street. Eureka Fire Rescue EMS Chief Brad James told Channel 11 that a couch and some other items caught fire in a third-floor apartment. James said the fire went to three alarms for three reasons: The smoke was moving through the building quickly; the fire took place in a high-rise building; and the heat was high and crews were very busy because of the storm. The fire prompted a partial evacuation along with a shelter-in-place in the other units.
