VIDEO: The Richland Fire Department participated in the annual fire escape training at Graystone Apartments Tuesday evening. Officials say this is the first training class in two years because of the pandemic. They also say it was important to do the training this year because of new residents and stress that they want everyone to be prepared in case of an emergency. "We care about our residents. We truly put their safety first and foremost, that's my primary job is their safety. We do have a secure building but the situation that arises were someone is required to evacuate the building, especially when you have 55 and older with residents who have mobility issues, you just never know when you're going to need to do that." Officials also say they do the training once a year to keep the information fresh in the residents heads so they're comfortable if anything happens.
