The flames were so intense from a Turtle Creek fire this morning, some firefighters had minor heat burns. One firefighter went to the hospital with an eye injury, Channel 11 was told.
The fire broke out just before 4 a.m. in the 1800 block of Oak Avenue Ext. At times, flames could be seen shooting from the roof.
“First crews went in…they weren’t sure if anybody was living here or not, they checked around…place seemed to be vacant,” said Chief Jack Osman of the Turtle Creek Fire Department.
Osman said the owners hadn’t been there for a few days and were remodeling the downstairs area.
“That’s one thing good around this area…we have a lot of fire companies that are close. Everybody’s willing to help. They do a great job,” Osman said.
The fire started in the upper part of the house and roof area, Osman said.
