Two people were taken to the hospital after fire tore through a home in Lehigh County on Thursday, officials said.
Flames were reported around noon in the 300 block of Franklin Street in Alburtis, according to emergency dispatchers. Firefighters rescued two cats from the home and gave them oxygen before taking the animals to the vet for treatment. Alburtis police praised the Lower Macungie Fire Department, saying all people and animals were out safe, according to a social media post. Crews shut down Franklin, Church and Main streets while they battled the fire. The condition of the two taken to the hospital is not known, said the fire chief on scene.
No word yet on what may have sparked the fire.
