Four people were taken to the hospital Monday after a large tree branch fell and landed on them in Cranston. According to the city's fire department, the elderly people were sitting at a picnic table off Harris Avenue when the branch came down around 7:30 p.m. Three of the people were able to get out from under the branch on their own, officials said, while the fourth was pulled out by first responders. All four were transported to the hospital for evaluation and treatment of minor injuries. Fire officials said the tree appeared to be old and diseased. The property manager is now evaluating the tree and will decide what to do with it.
