It did not take long after the May 24 opening of Quonset Fire Station 6 for it to see action.
North Kingstown Fire Chief Scott Kettelle said just three minutes after the fire truck was placed at the station on 545 Callahan Road, it received a call. The response time was just one minute, and Kettelle said Monday that there has been a “significant reduction” in initial response time for the engine.
“It’s a very progressive and exciting step, and not only for the fire chief that we now have a fire presence directly in Quonset Industrial Park, but for the first time in recent history the town is now being serviced by a fully-manned ladder truck,” Town Manager A. Ralph Mollis said. “It’s a pretty exciting time for the Fire Department.”
