Obituary: Oliver H.J. Perry II, Retired Lincoln Fire Chief

Oliver H.J. Perry 2nd, 95, of Lincoln, passed away Wednesday, November 28, 2018, one day shy of his 96th birthday. He was the beloved husband of the late Virginia L. (Poyas) Perry. A lifelong resident of Lincoln, he was the son of the late Harold T. and Mary (Jordan) Perry. Oliver attended Moses Brown School and graduated from Pawtucket East High School. With his wife, he owned Perry Excavating Corporation for 27 years. He was a volunteer member of Lime Rock Fire Department for 47 years, and for 10 of those years he served as Fire Chief. Following his retirement from the Fire Department, he served as Building Superintendent for Lincoln Center Properties. He was a World War II Army veteran. He was a member of Lime Rock Baptist Church; Mount Moriah Lodge #8, F. & A.M.; Rhode Island Association of Fire Chiefs; New England Association of Fire Chiefs; and 88th Infantry Division Association. He was a member of the original Lincoln Town Charter Commission; first Charter Review Commission; Lincoln Budget Board; and the Lincoln Republican Town Committee.
