“He was blue and he was gone,” Lucas Anselmo said of the little boy he helped pull out of a pool this summer who is alive today because of the quick action of family and friends. James Castanho, 4, who was under water at the bottom of a swimming pool for at least a minute, has since celebrated another birthday and was at Town Hall on Monday night handing out Community Heart Saver awards to those who rescued him and performed chest compressions and rescue breathing that brought his body back to life. “It was the best cry I ever heard in my life,” his grandfather Manny Cabral said of the moment James started breathing again. ... The family and friends who acted quickly to save his life were given Community Heart Saver awards by James during a presentation at the beginning of the council meeting, which also recognized firefighters who have saved the lives of residents this year who were in cardiac arrest. Fire Chief Robert Lloyd choked up when he talked about the incident with James, saying it’s hard not to get emotional.
