VIDEO: The Rhode Island Bomb Squad got into the Easter spirit by assembling special eggs so blind children could take part in one of the holiday's most exciting traditions. The eggs beep, making it easier for children who are visually impaired to find them. "Every other young kid gets to enjoy this," State Fire Marshal Timothy McLaughlin said. "These young adults and children don't have that opportunity." McLaughlin said the inspiration came from bomb technicians and investigators in Texas who did something similar. "Our bomb techs saw it and they said, 'Ah jeez, let's try it,'" he said. Last year, Rhode Island bomb technicians started out small with 25 beeping eggs, giving one each to 25 families to create their own Easter egg hunt. But McLaughlin said the word spread quickly, and he knew they had to do something even bigger this year. On Thursday, six bomb technicians made about 100 eggs and volunteered their time to help the cause.
