Harrisville firefighter dies following Burrillville crash

A Harrisville firefighter has died after being involved in a four-car crash on Route 102 Wednesday. Burrillville police said Ryan J. Ferris, 39, was sent to the Rhode Island Hospital following the crash on Broncos Highway and was pronounced dead later in the evening. According to police, Ferris' vehicle was pinned underneath a box truck; Ferris was taken by medical helicopter to Rhode Island Hospital where police said he later died from his injuries. Police said two other cars involved in the crash were found in the middle of the road with heavy damage. A total of four people were involved in the crash. The severity of the others' injuries is uncertain. The Burrillville Police and members of the Rhode Island State Police Commerical Enforcement Unit and Accident Reconstruction Team continue to investigate.
