Two girls are safe after they were rescued from the water by North Kingstown firefighters. Eyewitness News was on the scene in Wickford Harbor around 1:30 p.m. Saturday. That's where firefighters and Rhode Island DEM Police were staged. Fire officials tell us, the girls went paddling from the Plum Beach Club in North Kingstown and the wind and tide pulled them out by the Jamestown Bridge. One girl ended up in the water. A fire boat was launched and quickly brought the girls back to Wickford Harbor, where ambulances and their parents were waiting. A deputy fire chief says EMTs checked out the girls, who were a little wet, but okay.
