The battle for on-court supremacy between the North Providence Police and Fire Departments will play out next Thursday, March 28, in the North Providence High School gym, 1828 Mineral Spring Ave. Police Chief David Tikoian got the idea for this charity game after attending a charity football game between the North Providence and Johnston Fire Departments in November of 2017. “I considered an event that would benefit a nonprofit in our town,” he said. He floated the idea in January, and it was immediately supported by Mayor Charles Lombardi and Fire Chief John Silva. All proceeds from the event will benefit Tri-Town Community Action, a local agency providing needed social services to town residents. “I’m confident this will be an exciting event for police and fire professionals, their families and the community to support,” Tikoian said.
