VIDEO: Three people were rescued off of a capsized boat near Jack's Island in Tiverton Wednesday morning.
Tiverton Fire Department Captain Joseph Plocica said the call came in as a vessel in distress, and crews learned a boat had capsized with three people clinging to the hull.
Plocica said at some point Wednesday morning, the boat started to take on water, but when the operator tried to slow down, several waves went over the stern of the boat and caused it to capsize.
The fire department's Marine 14 vessel was dispatched, along with Narragansett Bay Task Force. Tiverton's crew arrived first and were able to bring the individuals back on to the boat and transport it to the dock.
Plocica said Portsmouth Rescue and Fall River Rescue transported two of the three people to Rhode Island Hospital for possible hypothermia. He also said the third person refused treatment against medical advice.
