As part of Fire Safety Month, the Warwick Fire Department will host an open house on Saturday, Oct. 19 at the Station 8 firehouse on Post Road (near Anne & Hope), which is open to the public beginning at 11 a.m. and will run until 2 p.m.
The open house will include fire safety education exercises, tours of the fire station, giveaways and pizza provided by Papa Gino's. There will also be apparatus on site for kids (young and old) to enjoy.
Fire Chief Peter McMichael said on Wednesday that the open house will include a special hour starting at 10 a.m. available only to children and members of the community that are afflicted with sensory processing difficulties, which is being promoted through the Autism Project of Rhode Island.
"It's conjunctive with some training we did with our firefighters for people with autism," McMichael said.
