Five Rhode Island fire departments will receive a total of $1.2 million in federal grants for training and equipment, the state’s congressional delegation announced Monday.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program will award funding to the Cranston, Johnston, Lime Rock (located in Lincoln), North Kingstoen and Western Coventry fire departments.
“These federal funds will enhance public safety and improve the departments’ emergency response capabilities. I salute our firefighters and first responders,” said U.S. Sen. Jack Reed, D-R.I. “They do so much for our communities, and we have their back.”
