The police and fire chief are going to don their swim trunks Saturday and be at the mercy of anyone who pays a dollar to throw balls at a target that, if hit, will drop them into a chilly tank of water. “It’s for a great cause,” Police Chief Patrick Jones said of the money he raises during his hour at the dunk tank being put into a crime prevention fund that will pay for community events carried out by the Police Department. It will cost $1 for three balls.
It will be his first time in a dunk tank. He plans to do it after the pooch parade at 12:15 p.m. that will be in memory of his father, Raymond Jones, a former long time animal control officer in town who died this spring.
Fire Chief Joseph Mollo will be next up in the dunk tank after Jones.
