A grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new North Providence Public Safety Complex will be held this Saturday, Sept. 21, at 1835 Mineral Spring Ave. across from North Providence High School. All residents are invited for this special ceremony starting at 11 a.m. Come for a tour of the state-of-the-art complex covering nearly 60,000 square feet. Food will be provided by The Breeze and The Fire Brick Oven Pizza & Bar in North Providence. The new safety complex came in within budget and on time, according to Chief of Police David Tikoian. It is expected to last for the next century or longer, built using more than $27 million from the North Providence Police Department’s $60 million in winnings from a 2012 settlement with Google over illegal advertising practices. This is designed as a monumental building that all residents can be proud of, say chiefs of the police and fire departments and Mayor Charles Lombardi.
