The Middletown Town Council has unanimously approved the appointment of Fire Marshal Robert McCall to serve as interim fire chief for four months, “or until otherwise relieved by the town administrator.”
McCall, a senior ranking officer with the fire department, will step in to replace former fire chief Peter Faerber Jr., who announced his retirement on Jan. 9 after serving a two-year stint at the helm. McCall was sworn in at the start of the Jan. 21 council meeting. He previously served as interim chief following the retirement of Ronald Doire, who preceded Faerber.
“Rob has been a valued member of the fire department since 2005,” said Shawn Brown, town administrator. “He has stepped up through the ranks within the department. He is a committed member of the Middletown Fire Department and is the strongest choice to serve as the town’s fire chief for an interim period.”
