State reports 471 new cases as it marks 1 millionth COVID-19 test

The Rhode Island Department of Health on Thursday reported 471 new coronavirus cases and four more deaths. The state also said it has surpassed 1 million total tests. The Department of Health said it identified 398 cases on Wednesday, the most in a single day since April 24. The remaining cases were added to previous dates. The state said it did 14,916 tests on Wednesday, with a percent positive rate of 2.7%. The Department of Health said 140 people were being treated for coronavirus-related reasons in the hospital. The state has recorded 29,594 total coronavirus cases and 1,173 deaths since the pandemic began.
